Three numbers move the cost of nearly every rack project: the price of steel, the cost to truck it, and the diesel behind that freight. We track all three here so you can time a purchase, sanity-check a quote, or brief your team, sourced from UNARCO, DAT, and the U.S. EIA.

UNARCO publishes a Hot-Rolled Coil Midwest average every week. Rack pricing follows steel with a lag, so a rising trend usually means today's quote beats next quarter's.
When steel and freight are climbing, buying now (or buying used from in-stock inventory that isn't exposed to this week's mill price) can save real money. When they're falling, it may pay to wait a beat. Either way, you shouldn't have to guess, and our $10M+ of ready-to-ship used rack sidesteps mill lead times entirely.
